Nowadays many of the bigger insurance companies are requesting
their clients to have all their jewellery checked and serviced by
a good jeweller at least once a year
If you have bought an item of jewellery in Ireland this is not
a problem. It becomes a problem if you have bought the item abroad
as many Irish jewellers do not like working with jewellery purchased
outside Ireland.
We at C. Clarke jewellers will check and service all items of jewellery
bought abroad, and furnish you with a letter to say that the jewellery
has been checked for insurance purposes.
This is an entirely different service to a valuation service. The
service is carried out by a goldsmith and a setter and not by a
valuer. There is a charge for the service which starts at €50
for the time and expertise that is required to do the job, and also
for the typed letter you receive.
If we feel that some work is required to be carried out on your
jewellery we will tell you and quote for the same.
We are not able to give you a quote over the phone regarding this
service - we do need to see the item in person before we can quote.
Obviously the more stones and claws the item has the more work
that is involved in checking and repairing or tightening the item.

The service can usually be carried out while you wait if the item
does not have many stones.
